BRAZILIAN ADMITS KILLING 41 PEOPLE FOR FUN

A Brazilian man accused of stabbing a woman to death in a Rio suburb has confessed to have murdered 41 people, almost all of them women, “for the fun of it,” police said Thursday. “He wanted to kill women — white women, not black ones. KIDS ABDUCTED BY HOUSEMAID FOUND NEAR POLICE STATION

The two kids abducted by a housemaid, identified simply as Juliet, have been found in the Sagamu area of Ogun State. Our correspondent learnt that the children– three-year-old Rafael and his 15-month-old brother, Michael– were abandoned near the Sagamu Police Station on Thursday. The Nigerian Army has discovered a plan by the Boko Haram insurgents to attack 25 communities and villages spread across five states in the troubled North-East zone. A credible security source, who confided in our correspondent on Thursday, said that the Boko Haram hit list was recovered by Special Forces during an operation at the Balmo Forest. According to the source, the targeted communities are spread across five states of Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe.

OBASANJO APPEALS AGAINST BOOK SEIZURE ORDER

A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has appealed against the order given by a Federal Capital Territory High Court judge, Justice Valentine Ashi, that security agents, including the police and men of the Department of State Service, should confiscate his latest autobiography, My Watch. The judge had given this order after the ex-president went ahead on Tuesday in Lagos to present the book to the public, in disobedience to the court’s restraining injunction. Justice Ashi also gave the former president a 21-day ultimatum to explain why he should not be punished for flouting the court order.

LAGOS POLICE DEFEND POWER-DRUNK COP: IG WADES IN

The police in Lagos have said the 29-year-old photographer, Ejeh Smith, who was brutalised by a policeman attached to the Ikoyi Police Division along with his wife, Grace, was drunk on the night of the incident. The police authorities added that the couple engaged the policeman in a scuffle, adding that since the incident happened, they had refused to make statements to the police.

SUSPECTED CULTIST KILL MOTORCYCLIST IN LAGOS

A motorcyclist, Odunayo Ikuoyemi, aka Odo, has been shot dead by suspected cultists in the Somolu area of Lagos State. The incident happened on a walkway beside a major drainage network on Adifashe Street, around 2.30pm on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Ogun State indigene was said to be survived by a child.
