3 STUDENT ARRAIGNED FOR ALLEGEDLY BEATING TEACHER TO PULP

Three students of St Mark’s Anglican Grammar School, Kola Balogun Area, Osogbo, have been arraigned before a Magistrate Court for beating up their teacher. Haruna Waliu and Adebayo Abeeb both 19 were arraigned alongside a third suspect, 21-year-old Oladimeji Tunde, before Chief Magistrate Muhammed Lasisi in Osogbo on a three- count charge of conspiracy, assault and breach of public peace.

According to the charge sheet, the students allegedly beat up their teacher, one Osho Bamidele Samuel, on October 24, 2014.
Samuel allegedly suffered dislocation in his two hands in the atttack.
In addition to the assault, the students are also accused of breaching the peace by stoning teachers in the school premises.
The court heard that the offense is punishable under Section 517 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
All three accused persons pleaded not-guilty to the charges after which their counsel, Mr. W. A. Idowu, urged the court to grant them bail.
Chief Magistrate Lasisi, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned till February 9, 2015 for hearing.
