MY FATHER REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF US AFTER MARRYING ANOTHER WIFE

A 17-year-old teenager, Abdulrasaq Amusa, has testified against his father, Tajudeen Amusa, at an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti State, in a divorce suit filed by his mother, Bosede.
Bosede sought the dissolution  of her marriage to Tajudeen on grounds of public disgrace, frequent fighting and lack of care for her and their three children.

Abdulrasaq, while testifying, told the court that since his father got married to another woman, he had stopped performing his duties as a father.
According to him, his mother once asked his father money  for the upkeep of the home, but  rather than give her, he beat her and  she was hospitalised.
He  added that he was forced to abandon school and  learn a trade when his  father changed his school.
“My mother was indebted to many people before she went into petty trading and  I’m the one helping her  pay her debt from the proceeds of my business.
“My mother and I are responsible for the upkeep of the home and schooling of my younger ones,” he said.
Abdulrasaq, however, urged the court not to dissolve his parents marriage.
The  court president, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, adjourned the case till  September 11.
