The Delta State police Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad have arrested a suspected armed robber and kidnapper who operated in the Amai area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, on Thursday said the squad had responded to a distress call that some robbers were operating in the community.
She said, “The operatives trailed the hoodlums to Utagba-uno community and arrested one Chukwuneku Okpala, while other members escaped.
“Items recovered from him include one motorcycle, two single and one double-barrelled gun and two handsets.
“The suspect has confessed his involvement in the kidnap of one Mrs. Anigala Patience and the recent kidnap of Mrs. Roseline Okolie, the wife of a lecturer in the Delta State University, Abraka.”
In a related development, Kalu said the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad recovered a stolen Honda CRV.
She said, “One Tony Anuku reported at the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad office in Asaba that four armed men invaded his house and made away with his Honda CRV and other valuables.
“The operatives, with the aid of a tracking device, were able to recover the stolen vehicle.
“Three suspects ─Donald Epus, Paul Oseji, and Oseji Michael ─ have been arrested in connection with the crime.”
