EBOLA OUTBREAK: DEATH TOLL RISES ABOVE 9000

The death toll for the current Ebola outbreak has now risen above 9,000, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said. The WHO stated on Friday, February 6, that 9,004 people had died from the disease while 22,525 confirmed cases had been recorded.
The latest numbers reveal the impact of the outbreak on the worst affected countries; Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. This comes as experts recorded a new rise in cases of the disease after a series of unsafe burials.
Infected corpses are highly contagious and unsafe burials are a major mode of transmission.
The Ebola outbreak has been on the decline and is expected to fizzle out completely by June 2015.
