WHY YOU SHOULD RINSE YOUR HAIR WITH CHAMPAGNE

One of our favorite hair salons, Oscar Blandi, is offering exclusive treatments that celebrate all things Yuletide, with rinses that smell like the candy canes you've been eating by the handful and treatments that make your hair shine like the champagne you've been guzzling sipping at all your holiday parties. And beyond just being wonderfully winter-y, each treatment works magic for your hair, promising more volume and envy-worthy shine in addition to those "I rinsed my hair with champagne" bragging rights.

One blistery December Saturday, I experienced the treatments first hand with hair magician  Kyle White, and all I can say is, my hair has NEVER looked better. The champagne brightened my blonde locks, the candy cane clarifying treatment tingled and got rid of my pesky product buildup, and the eggnog was a great conditioning mask and treatment (and it smelled so delicious I wanted to eat it). I'd recommend them to anyone—but if you can't make it to the salon in time for a hair pick-me-up, here are the ingredients and directions to try these treatments at home.
1. CANDY CANE CLARIFYING RINSE
Tingles the scalp and helps in removing product build up in hair.
Ingredients:
One cup of water
4 drops of peppermint oil

Directions:
Apply to the scalp in 1/4 inch sections. Then gradually work onto and over all of the hair, before thoroughly rinsing with warm water and finishing with a cool shot.
Peppermint oil works by balancing the scalps PH level. It brings a tingling sensation to the scalp which also improves blood circulation and stimulates hair growth. Its astringent properties unclog hair follicles while removing all dead skin cells and product build up or impurities from the hair.
2. EGGNOG NOURISHING CONDITIONING TREATMENT
Protein-packed and full of vitamins essential for moisturizing healthy hair.
Ingredients:
Two whole eggs
1 teaspoon essential vanilla oil

Directions:
Apply to hair from roots to ends before covering with a plastic cap to allow the scalp's natural heat to help open up the hairs cuticle, allowing for maximum penetration. Leave on for five to fifteen minutes. Then shampoo thoroughly (do a second shampoo if necessary).
Eggs and egg yolk are full of protein and packed with vitamin A, D, and E—all great for shiny, healthy hair. To top it off, the fatty acids in eggs moisturize and condition like nothing else. Essential vanilla oil is a light moisturizer. It also eliminates any unpleasant smell and has been proven to have an aromatherapy calming effect.
3. CHAMPAGNE RINSE
Ingredients:
Champagne!

To bring out golden tones in highlights, create shine, and give volume.
Directions:
Comb freshly opened champagne through damp hair. Work the champagne through the hair gently with your fingers and rinse out thoroughly. The golden color of the champagne will bring out golden tones in your highlights and the consistency and effervescence of champagne gives the hair great volume, shine, and a gorgeous glow. For extra lift, you can also spritz champagne directly on roots before blow-drying.
