TALIBAN SCHOOL ATTACK: PAKISTAN DECLARES THREE DAYS OF MOURNING

Pakistan has begun a three-day mourning period for the children and teachers who were killed in a December 16 terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar. The country is burying its dead after Taliban militants attacked the army-run school leaving 141 people, 132 of whom are children, dead.

Pakistan is planning a response to the attack and Prime MinisterNawaz Sharif today, December 17, lifted a 6-year moratorium on the death penalty for cases of terrorism.
Sharif has also vowed revenge for the attack while promising to continue a military offensive against militants in the country's northwestern tribal region, near the Afghan border.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani Taliban has said, through a spokesperson, that it carried out the attack in response to military operations against it.
