For involving himself in criminal activities like armed robbery and cultism, the son of a female police officer serving in the Kwara State Police Command has been arrested. The young man who is in his 20s, is said to be the leader of a five-man gang who have several cases of robbery and cult activities traced to them. The suspects who were paraded by the state Commissioner of Police at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin, the state capital, were arrested in the hideout at Elekoyangan community in Ilorin, where the suspects were arrested on November 23, 2014, with the police officer's son said to be the one supplying the guns and ammunitions the gang used to operate.
The police boss also said that the suspects had confessed to being the owners of exhibits found on them, which included one cut-to-size locally-made barrel gun, one automatic cigarette lighter pistol, two live cartridges, four wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, two cutlasses, a black schoolbag, one fire lighter and criminal charms.
He said they would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
