NGO PLANS 1MILLION JOBS FOR NIGER DELTA YOUTHS

An NGO, Waltz Environmental Solution, said it planned to create one million jobs for the youths in the Niger Delta, including Cross River, in the next ten years. The Director of the organisation, Mr Samuel Ekong, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Calabar on Sunday, that the jobs would be in technical areas, especially in oil and gas.

He said the organisation would partner with job creation agencies such as Entrepreneurial Development Centre in Calabar and oil companies in the region to create the jobs.

“We have a structure in place for job creation for the youths in the Niger Delta region in general and our target is one million jobs,” he said.

Ekong said the NGO was also creating awareness on how to tackle environmental challenges, especially in oil producing communities in the region.

He said the organisation was currently sensitising the people in Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Odukpani Local Government Areas of Cross River State on environmental challenges.
