JACKIE CHAN: SON OF CHINESE MOVIE STAR INDICTED ON DRUG CHARGES

 
Jaycee Chan, son of respected Chinese actor, Jackie Chan, has been indicted on a drug charge.Jaycee Chan was detained after he tested positive for marijuana after police allegedly found 100 grams of marijuana in his home. Taiwanese movie star, Kai Ko, was also detained at Jaycee’s home Beijing home in August but was released after a 14-day administrative detention for drug use.
Chinese prosecutors indicted Jaycee Chan Monday, December 22, on the charge of sheltering others to use drugs, more than four months after he was originally detained.
But Jaycee Chan was put under "criminal detention" for the additional and more serious suspected crime of "providing a shelter for others to abuse drugs", Beijing police said at the time.
Jaycee Chan could face up to three years in prison if convicted; a trial date has not been announced.
Chinese President, Xi Jinping, announced in June that the government would be cracking down on illegal drugs, and, as a result, offenders would be more severely punished. The efforts resulted in more than 7,800 people in Beijing alone being arrested. Several film and television stars, including directors and a prominent screenwriter were also arrested.
Jaycee is the only son of Jackie Chan who also has another daughter from an extra marital affair in 1999.
