COURT JAILS MAN FOR STEALING FROM BROTHER'S HOUSE

A Maiduguri High Court on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment for conspiracy and robbery. The accused, Kyari Bukar, of Ngomari ward of Maiduguri was sentenced under sections 97 and 298 of the Penal Code Law of Borno State. The court also sentenced the accomplice of the convict, Hamisu Haruna, to six months imprisonment. The court was told that the convict, armed with weapons which included knives, cutlasses and sticks
, broke into the house of one Hauwa Ngomari and carted away her property.
According to the police, the convicts had stolen necklaces, four handsets, gold earring and a DVD player, valued at N173,000
The first convict, who was said to be a brother to the complainant’s husband, was also accused of attempting to rape one of the victims during the robbery.
Presiding judge at the Maiduguri High Court 11, Justice Alkali Wakil, said the action of Bukar was shameful and serious.
“It is the highest ingratitude by Kyari and his partner in crime,” Wakil added.
