The Spanish nurse, Teresa Romero who contacted Ebola while treating an infected priest has been discharged from hospital after testing negative for the disease. Teresa was discharged from the Carlos III Hospital in Madrid on Wednesday, November 5 after spending a month receiving treatment. Dr. Jose Ramon Arribas confirmed her negative status to a news conference in Madrid saying: “Everyone can be assured that there is no danger whatsoever of her being contagious.” Romero thanked health workers for saving her life but condemned the killing of her
dog, Excalibur who was put down by government officials due to fears that he could spread the disease.
She also offered to donate her blood to any infected patients who would need it to aid them in recovering from the disease. “If my blood works to cure people, I’m ready to give it to the last drop,” she said. Romero was the first person to be infected with Ebola outside and she reportedly told doctors that she might have touched her face with a contaminated glove.
