Christian Louboutin is renowned for selling some of the world’s most expensive high heels, and now the designer has added a little of that same high-priced luxury to his beauty range with a new nail polish which retails for a whopping $675. Starlight is a limited edition holiday item, which is only available in the brand's signature red shade, Rouge Louboutin. And unlike the other polishes in Mr Louboutin’s collection, this unique product comes complete with a beautiful bottle embellished with 1,500 hand-applied Strass crystals.
Two red leather and crystal flowers borrowed from the designer's $1,395 Pensamoi shoe decorate the box, which has a black lacquered finish. The high-priced polish is even more expensive than some of the label's lavish footwear; for example, a pair of camouflage-print metallic Pigalle pumps as well as the brand's magenta suede Iriza heels can both be found on Net-A-Porter for $625.Mr Louboutin first released the Rouge Louboutin lacquer - without the ornate packaging - in July, as part of a nail polish line which is priced at $50 a bottle. Nail enamel was fitting for his first foray into beauty products. The French designer came up with the idea of giving all his shoes a red sole in 1992, after painting crimson nail enamel on the bottom of a pair to make them more compelling.
