Eight actresses, including five moms, a mother-to-be and two 13 Going on 30 stars, grace different covers of ELLE's November 2014 issue and are set to be honored at the magazine's 21st annual Women in Hollywood Awards. Zoe Saldana, who is pregnant with twins, is one of them. One her cover of ELLE's newest issue, which will start to hit stores on Oct. 14, the 36-year-old Star Trek
star shows off her baby bump in a black, feathered Lanvin mini halter dress and also strikes a side pose in a black, flowing Calvin Klein gown in another photo taken for the outlet.
The actress is expecting her first children with husband Marco Perego. The two wed in 2013. Saldana, who was born in New Jersey and also grew up in the Dominican Republic, talked to ELLE about her acting success, saying, "That's how those seven years my sisters and I spent on a bohemian island played very well. We're not American in terms of feeding into that machine that you have to be somebody. We were somebody the moment we were born."
Jennifer Garner, who shares three children with husband and Oscar winner Ben Affleck, appears on another ELLE cover, wearing a Calvin Klein black jacket, white shirt and black tie. She talked about motherhood and balancing a career.
"My ambition shifted when I had kids in a way that I didn't anticipate," Garner was quoted as saying. "I became more ambitious for my life as a whole, and for that kind of health and happiness of the overall family unit. And that very much includes my husband and very much includes me. My husband is always the one saying to me, ‘You have to work, you have to work. This is part of who you are. We'll figure it out.' That's powerful, when your partner has that serious mantra."
Garner, 42, recently responded to recent rumors that she was pregnant with her and Affleck's fourth child. She said on The Ellen DeGeneres show, regarding her post-baby body, " I am not pregnant, but I have had three kids and there is a bump. From now on ladies, I will have a bump. And it will be my baby bump. And let's just all settle in and get used to it. It's not going anywhere. I have a bump. Its name is Violet, Sam, Sera."
Jessica Lange, whose show American Horror Story returned for a fourth season on Wednesday, was also honored by ELLE. The 65-year-old actress, who won two Emmys for AHS and Oscars for her roles in the movies Tootsie and Blue Sky, has three children from previous relationships. She shares a daughter, Aleksandra, with ex-partner Mikhail Baryshnikov, a renowned ballet dancer who played Aleksandr Petrovsky on Sex and the City, and she and ex-partner Sam Shepard, an actor and screenwriter, have a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Samuel.
"When you're young, you just take your beauty for granted. Sometimes I think, 'S--t, I should have done that film!' But it's a passing thought. I played the parts I wanted to play," Lange told ELLE. "I do have regrets about films I shouldn't have done, which took me away from my children. That's the only real regret— time wasted."
The other celebrity moms who were honored by ELLE are Emmy-winning comedy actress and screenwriter Tina Fey, 44, who shares two daughters with husband Jeff Richmond, The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect star Elizabeth Banks, 40, who has two sons with husband Max Handelman and Oscar-nominated actress Annette Bening, 56, who has four child with husband and actor Warren Beatty,
