Nigerian pop star, Wizkid is currently enmeshed in a fresh scandal following a report of his arrest by a Kenyan newspaper, Standard Digital allegedly due to smoking marijuana in a Kenyan hotel. Wizkid, who was in Nairobi, Kenya to perform at a concert as well as shoot a music video with Chocolate City act, Victoria Kimani, was allegedly arrested and quizzed by Kenyan police officials after he was found to have contravened the non-smoking order in his hotel on Saturday, October 25, 2014 after
a performance. According to Standard Digital’s report: ‘The incident happened at around 1pm just as the Caro singer was checking out of his hotel room where he has been staying for a week, since his last week’s concert. According to our sources, Wizkid was caught smoking ‘weed’ inside the hotel in which smoking is prohibited. The hotel’s Front Officer asked him why he was smoking before the two got into a heated argument attracting security officers who ended up calling the police to arrest him.’ Wizkid was alleged to have stayed at the Nairobi Crowne Hotel and was made to cough out KSh50,000 for smoking in the hotel, an act against the hospitality outfit’s terms and conditions before he was whisked off to Capital Hill Police Station. The reports claim further that it took the intervention of Chocolate City singer, Victoria Kimani, who had to come to his rescue as his manager and friend were unable to save the situation. However, another Kenyan website, Generationy.co.ke, reports that the management of the Nairobi Crowne Hotel have refuted the allegation in its entirety, saying the pop star never stayed in the hotel at any point during his recent event to Kenya. ‘When we reached out to the hotel management to confirm the allegations, they denied saying Wizkid wasn’t even staying at Crowne Plaza, According to Mpasho.co.ke which is a BIG LIE,’ Generationy.co.ke said in its report....
