The American nurse who was the first person to catch Ebola on US soil is now cured and has gotten a hug from President Barack Obamafor her troubles.Nina Pham, of the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, contracted the disease while treating infected Liberian, Thomas Duncan who arrived in the US on September 20.Ms. Pham was cleared of the disease on Friday, October 24, 13 days after testing positive.She said:"I feel fortunate and blessed to be standing here today,"
she said. "Throughout this ordeal, I have put my faith in God and my medical team."Later in the day, she visited the White Houseand got a hug from President Obama in theOval Office.Duncan died in Texas on October 8 after infecting Pham and another health worker, Amber Vinson. Both are now free of the disease.33-year-old American doctor, Craig Spencer has also tested positive to the disease in New York after treating patients in Guinea. He is currently under isolation at the Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
