One of Nigeria’s most respected music stars, Bez Idakula, has been listed as one of the performers at this year’s edition of the popualr MUSON festival. The 18th edition of the annual MUSON Festival of the Arts tagged ‘MUSON, Coming of Age’ which is expected to showcase the significant progress that the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) has made since it was founded in 1983, will kick off on Thursday, October 16, 2014.
Some of the activities lined up for this year’s week long festival include Festival Drama which would hold on Saturday, October 18, 2014 and it’ll feature Jagua Nana –
the Musical, Cyprian Ekwesi’s famous novel produced and directed by one of Nigeria’s most talented theatre producers, Wole Oguntokun. From Sunday, October 19, the Visual Arts Exhibition billed to run until Wednesday, October 22 will kick off and this year’s Classical Concert comes up on Sunday, October 19, 2014 featuring the MUSON Symphony Orchestra conducted by MUSON’s new Artistic Director, Composer, Cellist and Kora player, Tunde Jegede.
The Orchestra will perform the very popular Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and other works by renowned international and Nigerian composers. Lovers of the MUSON Festival will be treated to a new and exciting Festival offering on Monday, October 20, 2014 as the Society of the Performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN), which regularly partners with MUSON Centre, will spice this year’s Festival with a Dance Workshop and Concert.
The Grand Finale of the MUSIQuest, the annual talent competition for youths, will feature the best candidates from the earlier stages of the competition in a concert on Thursday, October 23, 2014 while Jazz Night on Friday, October 24, 2014 would be headlined by soul singer, Bez while the opening act will be a MUSON alumnus – Jazz Saxophonist, composer and arranger, Imoleayo Balogun....
