The Managing Director, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc, Joe Hudson has said Nigeria is blessed with vibrant and talented youths who have the skills to turn the country to an industrial giant.
Hudson further stated that Nigeria has the potential to rule the world given the abundance of human resources and talents abound in this country.
He disclosed this at the graduation of the young men and women who have undergone 18 months intensive training at Isofin, Ewekoro Local Government area of Ogun State.
He also noted that having visited a number of host communities and travelled to some parts of the country, he had discovered that Nigeria “is blessed with vibrant and talented youths who if given the necessary support would turn the country to an industrial giant.
He said, “When I came in 2009, I saw so many potential. There are many talented youths in the country and the host communities. But there was a mismatch.
“I have been to many places around the world and Nigeria is the country with the best ‘can do spirit’. There is enormous talents in this country and that was why we revived the technical apprentices scheme for young school leavers from the host communities to equip them with skills and technical competencies required to work in industries, especially cement industry.”
Hudson who explained that the company would employ those who successfully completed the training, said the company would not shy away from performing its corporate social responsibility.
He added,”With the kind of training we had given the beneficiaries, they can work anywhere in the world. That is the Lafarge standard kind of training.
Present at the ceremony were traditional rulers, parents of the beneficiaries, and host of other guests.
