Following the incident which saw a 60-year-old retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sunday Isokpehi, shoot himself and his 40-year-old wife, Gladys, to death, the Ogun State Police Command has promised to investigate the circumstances which led to the death of the couple.

The deceased officer, Isokpehi reportedly shot his wife to death on Saturday, 20 September. The officer had returned to his home in Ota, only to accuse his wife of being drunk, after which he shot her and killed himself.
While reacting to the tragic incident, the Police spokesperson in Ogun state, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Command would investigate whether or not the late Police officer legally acquired the double-barrelled gun he used to carry out the crime.
He said, “We are still investigating the immediate and remote causes of the tragic incident. We will find out whether the man was depressed or was under any influence, because a normal human being will not open fire on his wife and then kill himself. We will investigate how he got the double-barrelled gun he used to commit the dastardly act.”
Adejobi said the late officer retired as Assistant Superintendent of Police, as opposed to reports that he was a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police. He added that Isokpehi retired in March from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit, Lagos Police Command, and was living in Eledi area in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government.
