For stealing meat from his neighbour’s pot, a man has been beaten to stupor by an angry mob in Asaba, Delta.
The meat-thief, identified as Sylvanus was reportedly caught while trying to swallow the meat he stole from his neighbour’s pot of soup, after which, he was beaten black and blue by an angry mob.
The incident, which occurred around Ogbe-Osowe quarters in Asaba, attracted a large crowd, which gathered to watch the 42-year-old man confess to the crime.
It was also reported that Sylvanus was a habitual thief, who had been arrested severally by the police for theft-related offences.
Prior to the meat theft, the suspect had reportedly quarrelled with his girlfriend who accused him of stealing money from her bag.
