A trailer with registration no: YKS 56 XA on Tuesday evening caused pandemonium in Oke iyimin area of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, when it lost control due to brake failure and destroyed four vehicles and two motorbikes.

The incident, which happened at about 5: 40 pm yesterday caused great panic among residents, passers-by, Okada riders and motorists.
Daily Sun gathered that the driver of the trailer, a yet-to-be identified young man began to raise the alarm as he was approaching the Oke yinmi round about from the Okeyinmi Street, that the break of the long vehicle had failed and that people should stay clear of the road.
It eventually dragged four vehicles and two motorbikes along with it but the driver maneuvered his way and ran into a big drainage by the road just before he got into the roundabout. That stopped the vehicle and averted what might be a monumental loss of lives and property.
Once he was sure the vehicle had stopped inside the gutter, the driver of the vehicle rushed out of it and seeing the angry irate already gathering to unleash their anger on him, he swiftly made his way out of the crowd and ran off to the nearest police station.
Enraged by the driver’s action, people in the area began raising the alarm that he was a thief running to escape. They shouted Ole! Ole!! Ole!!!, after the running driver but could not catch up with him.
Praising God for averting a greater tragedy, an eyewitness said: “It was just by God’s doing and His control over the driver that made a bigger tragedy not to happen.  The driver tried his best to avert a greater tragedy but he has crushed vehicles and motorbikes.”
Policemen from the Oke-lla police station later arrived at the scene of the accident and calmed the tensed  atmosphere.
