A 25-year-old man, identified as James Nicodemus Koknyom, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a Magistrate’s Court in Jalingo, Taraba Stata, for allegedly killing his father.

“He knocked him down and drove over him, causing him to sustain injuries on the head. He was rushed to the state specialist hospital, Jalingo, where he died” he said.
Tydon informed the court that the offence was contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code.
The accused, who agreed that he understood the content of the FIR after been read to him, was denied plea by Magistrate, Habiba Barde, on the grounds that the court had no jurisdiction to take the plea. The magistrate explained that the court was only holding the accused on remand proceedings.
