The convict stole the iPad when other worshippers were going to the altar to give their offering:
A 22-year-old man, Shedrack Ojukwu has been jailed for 2 months for stealing an iPad in Church.
Ojukwu, a bricklayer by profession was dragged before a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja. He pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.
According to the prosecutor, Mr. Ojukwu criminally trespassed into Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Catholic Church in Area 3, Abuja, pretending to be one of the worshippers.
He said that the convict stole the iPad when other worshippers were going to the altar to give their offering.
The convict was arrested by a police officer, Jibo Mohammed, when he was leaving the church premises and taken to Garki Police Station on Aug. 9.
He said the iPad was recovered from him during police investigation.
According to the magistrate, the convict is to spend one month in prison or pay a fine of N2000 for the offence of criminal trespass.
The convict is to spend another one month or pay N3000 fine for the offence of theft.
The sentences are to run consecutively.
