ACTOR COLUMBUS SHORT 'WRITES APOLOGY TEXT MESSAGE' TO THE MAN HE ATTACKED

Legal troubles: Short, shown in February in West Hollywood, California, left the hit show Scandal in April after his domestic violence arrest
Actor Columbus Short previously said he was protecting his wife Tanee McCall after he was involved in a fight which left a man unconscious in LA in March.
In July the former Scandal star told Atlanta's V-103 radio station: 'I had to defend my wife at a bar. This man was being highly, highly disrespectful... slapping her in the face with $20 bills. He added that the man,
Felton Hyche III, was 'talking to her too much' and that things 'got to a point, you know, it got to that point and I had to defend myself.'I know im texting and incriminating myself but I have to own what I did wrong in that situation,' the website claim Columbus wrote.
Adding: 'Im so sorry and completely disappointed in myself. Whether I go to jail or not that will be the worst punishment of all.  Losing you guys.'
The incident allegedly occurred on March 15, at Gabe's Bar and Grill in L.A and a photo obtained by TMZ shows the victim in a neck brace and unconscious before being taken to a local hospital.
According to sources, Short punched his 37-year-old victim in the face, and knocked him to the ground at an engagement party where Felton had allegedly insulted Short's estranged wife.

Since that time Short has pleaded not guilty to felony battery for the fight in a hearing in May.
He also faces a misdemeanour spousal battery case and his estranged wife has a temporary restraining order against him.
Late last month Columbus missed a court hearing in his domestic violence case and a warrant was issued by a judge for his arrest.
The 31-year-old actor had been ordered to appear in court as his wife Tanee McCall sought more protection from him, according to TMZ.

Short was arrested in February for alleged domestic violence assault against McCall. A judge issued a bench warrant for Short's arrest after his failure to appear.
Short previously was ordered to stay away from his wife when a restraining order was granted in March. McCall previously filed for divorce in September and renewed her petition after the alleged domestic violence.
He also was arrested on July 5 in Texas for public intoxication after an alleged shouting match with a security guard and a scuffle with off-duty Dallas police officers.
Short later told Access Hollywood that he was 'involved in no fight'.
The actor announced in April that he would be stepping down from the hit ABC political thriller Scandal after three seasons following his arrest for domestic violence.
