29-year-old bricklayer, Ibrahim Tijani, has been remanded at the Ikoyi Prison by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate's Court presided over by Mrs M. O. Tanimola, for allegedly murdering his neighbour, Bashorun Okanla, with a cutlass during a fight on February 8, 2015, at their Okun, Ajah, Lagos residence.
Tanimola, while adjourning the case to a April 15, 2015, said that the accused should be remanded pending legal advice from the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The prosecutor in the case, ASP Elizabeth Ekuma, had earlier told the court that the deceased had complained about the fumes coming out of he accused’ generator which was filtering into his apartment.
"An argument ensued between the duo which led Tijani to enter his room, got a cutlass which he used to attack the deceased on one of his legs and the left hand."
Okanla was rushed to an hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the attack.
