IN US: BOSTON BOMBER TSARNAEV SENTENCED TO DEATH

Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been sentenced to death on Friday, May 15. A US jury decided that Tsarnaev, 21, deserves to die for his role in the April 2013 bombing.  The decision was made after 14 hours of deliberations on whether the Tsarnaev should get a life imprisonment or death sentence, considering he was a teenager when he carried out the attack.

Reports from Yobe State has it that about six people have died and 27 others injured after a bomb went off. A female suicide bomber on Saturday, May 16, reportedly detonated the bomb at a central motor part in Damaturu causing the killings and throwing the entire town into pandemonium.Details are still sketchy as at press time, but eyewitness say casualties could be higher.

A Cairo court has sentenced ousted ex-President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsy, to death for his involvement in jail break in 2011. Morsy’s death penalty was announced on Saturday, May 16. Report says his name; alongside over 100 other defendants will be passed to the highest legal authority in Egypt to confirm the death sentence on June 2.

IN SYRIA: ISIS COMMANDER KILLED BY US FORCES

A senior Islamic State leader, Abu Sayyaf, has reportedly been killed by the U.S. special operations forces during a raid in eastern Syria, the Pentagon and White House said on Saturday, May 16. It was reported that Sayyaf directed the group's oil, gas and financial operations.The terrorist’s wife, Umm Sayyaf, was said to have been captured in the raid.

"During the course of the operation, Abu Sayyaf was killed when he engaged U.S. forces," White House National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said in a statement

IN BURUNDI: POLICEMEN INVADE HOSPITAL AND KILL PATIENTS

 

Following the break out of violence after the foiled coup attempt in Burundi, Doctors have said policemen invaded a hospital in the country’s capital, killing patients and searched for men inured in the coup crisis. A surgeon at the Bumerec hospital in Bujumbura, Dr. Antoine, said the attack on Friday, May 15 also inflicted different degrees of injury on some patients.
