GOODLUCK JONATHAN ACQUIRE NEW PRIVATE JET

President Goodluck Jonathan is set to acquire a new private jet to be added to the presidential fleet in 2015, according to reports. The Federal Government has set aside an initial deposit of N400 million to be paid to the manufacturer of the aircraft. Provision for the new jet was made in the 2015 budget which was presented by the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iwealato lawmakers at the National Assembly in Abuja.

A 14-year-old girl who is standing trial for the murder of her husband has reportedly confessed to killing him. Wasilat Tasiu admitted to the murder of her 35-year-old husband, Umar Sani before a crowded court in Kano State. The young girl confirmed the reports that she had killed Sani with rat poison and signed a police confession to that effect with a thumbprint because she cannot write.

The second phase of GlaxoSmithKline's experimental Ebola vaccine trials have been slated to begin in February 2015 and will hold in Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and Senegal. The trials were expected to commence earlier but were postponed after national regulators expressed the need to gather more information. A two-day meeting of the national regulatory authorities and ethics committees was hosted earlier this week by the World Health Organization (WHO) after which the UN agency stated that all aspects of the proposed trials had been thoroughly discussed.

A 17-year-old girl has confessed to killing a young mother and cutting out her unborn child from her womb. Guadalupe Salinas Hernandez told police that she had killed 20-year-old Nathaly Cartas Leon and taken her baby because she had lost her own child to an abortion.
The horrific incident occurred in Reynosa, in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas in Mexico after the duo met on Facebook.

PRICES OF FRESH PEPPER, ONIONS AND TOMATOES ARE STABLE IN LAGOS MARKETS

With just a few days to Christmas the prices of pepper, onions and tomatoes have remained stable  in most markets in Lagos, Daily Independent reports. A survey conducted by the News Agency of Nigeria, however, revealed that the prices of live stock, some food items and imported used clothes had increased by at least 35 per cent. At the Mile 12 and Oke Odo markets, a small basket of tomatoes and pepper (tatashe) sells for N900 each, from the N850 they sold for two weeks ago.
