A widow, Mrs Helen Okoro, and a mother of two, has had a first hand taste of what a man under the influence of drugs can do as she and her two children, a 15-year-old boy named Godwin and Blessing, a 19-year-old SSS 2 student of Ojoku Senior High School, Tolu, Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, were almost butchered to death by an 'Igbo' (Indian Hemp) smoking neighbour who not onlystabbed her son but descended on her and her daughter.

A 25-year-old woman, Geri Laadi, is battling for her life after she was shot in the mouth by some armed men who wanted to rapeher but met a stiff resistance from her. The Peoples Democratic Party has described the All Progressives Congress as a “waste basket.” Reacting to the primaries recently conducted by the APC ahead of the 2015 general elections, the ruling PDP stated that the majority of the candidates who have emerged on the platform of the opposition party were “expired substances.” Writing on its Facebook page, the PDP particularly took on the embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, and a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.

A former Oyo State governor, Rashidi Ladoja, was on Monday confirmed as the governorship candidate of Accord Party in the forthcoming elections in 2015. In what was a mere affirmation of his candidacy rather than contest, Ladoja polled 1,692 votes to emerge winner in a race where he had no opponent. During his acceptance speech, Ladoja said his emergence marked the beginning of a big struggle that would end with the 2015 elections.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Lagos State governorship election in 2015 general elections, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, on Monday visited the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) in his office.

The visit was seen by many as the beginning of the end to the acrimony that trailed the APC governorship primary which pitted one of the national leaders of the APC, Senator Bola Tinubu against his political godson, Fashola. A Maiduguri High Court on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment for conspiracy and robbery. The accused, Kyari Bukar, of Ngomari ward of Maiduguri was sentenced under sections 97 and 298 of the Penal Code Law of Borno State. The court also sentenced the accomplice of the convict, Hamisu Haruna, to six months imprisonment. The court was told that the convict, armed with weapons which included knives, cutlasses and sticks

A suspected gay, Mohammed Snu, has been murdered by his partner, Mohammed Umar, inside a room of a hotel in Garki, Abuja. It was gathered that Snu died after he was stabbed multiple times in the ribs with a screw driver by Umar last Thursday. A housemaid, identified simply as Juliet, has allegedly abducted the two children of her bosses who live on Gateway Crescent in the Magodo, Isheri area of Lagos State.

The 24-year-old housemaid was said to have fled home with the kids –Rafael (3), and 15-month-old Michael– who are nephews of a Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, on Sunday evening after their parents went out around 6pm.

Our correspondent gathered that the kids’ mother, Mrs. Onajite Esharegharan, and her husband, Elvis, had decided to go for a shopping on the fateful day in celebration of the latter’s birthday.
