One of the victims told Leadership that the driver of the Toyota Hilux caused the accident after his attempt to overtake failed. After the Double Delight Fast Food, a Toyota Hilux was coming from the opposite direction, I noticed he was about overtaking a Jeep, but there was not enough space for the Hilux to balance itself so it was unable to return because the Jeep was on high speed, and there was no space for him to pass through, and all of a sudden what was heard was a blast, and I saw myself on the ground.” He said a "Good Samaritan" rushed them to the General Hospital in Abraka where they received treatment.
He confirmed the death of the student. The girl on my left hand side died on the spot. Information reaching us is that the driver died two days later," he said.
The deceased student may be a student of the Delta State University (DELSU, Abraka which has its main campus located at Abraka.
