FULANI HERDSMEN ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY

These Fulani armed robbers were nabbed by the Ogun State police.
Three Fulani herdsmen who decided to abandon their trade of tending their cows and instead pursue a life of crime, have been arrested the police in Sabo area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, for armed robbery. The suspects, Haruna Ibrahim, Usman Burani and Haruna Usman, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, were arrested while robbing commuters and other road users on Igboora and Ayetoro roads of the state.

In a statement released by the PPRO, items like dummy guns, expended cartridges, assorted charms and some cutlasses, were recovered from the hoodlums.
Adejobi disclosed that operatives attached to Ilupeju Sabo Division of the police command, arrested the herdsmen a few days after they had robbed members of Atoba Estate in Sabo area of Abeokuta.
"Members of the community, who had placed the suspected armed robbers under surveillance, sighted the robbers while rearing their herd of cattle around the area and were able to identify them as the robbers who robbed them and carted away their belongings some weeks back.
The community leaders contacted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area, CSP Gbenga Megbope, who led his anti-robbery team to the scene where the robbers were arrested.
The arrested herdsmen led police to their hideout in a jungle called Igbo Olodumare on Igboora Road, Ogun State where additional two Fulani herdsmen were arrested and a gun with cartridges recovered from them.
Other weapons recovered from them include some cutlasses, expended cartridges, assorted charms, dummy guns etc."
