CHIDINMA, SEYI SHAY, YEMI ALADE, THREATEN TIWA SAVAGE'S REIGN AS NIGERIA'S QUEEN OF POP

L:R- Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade, Chidinma, Tiwa Savage.
Tiwa Savage is unarguably the leading female act in Nigeria judging from her success in the last few years, but there are conscious efforts by emerging female acts to overthrow or share the top spot with her.

The biggest contenders, according to investigations by NET are Chidinma Ekile, Seyi Shay, Victoria Kimani and Yemi Alade – all rising sex symbols who are, just like TS, also tremendously gifted.

While Asa has been put in a place of her own with little or no competition for her space, Omawumi and Waje are on a different path and class entirely.

The unrelenting efforts of the emerging female acts seem to be yielding dividends, with endorsements, stable management teams and committed record labels on their side.

And if these artistes keep up with their pace, one of them might capitalize on the odds against Tiwa to overthrow the Mavins first lady....

ODDS AGAINST TIWA SAVAGE...
In few months or a year’s time, TS is likely to be entering another chapter of her life as first a pregnant woman, and later, a mother – that is if she isn’t pregnant as you read this. Without doubt, these periods will open a window of opportunity to these contending artistes, who are currently giving TS a run for her money. From the fate suffered by Kel and Sasha (two acts that are still struggling to regain relevance despite past achievements), making a comeback into the Nigerian music scene after a brief hiatus appears to be near-impossible. But then TS could go the Beyonce way. In fact those who know her say she’s aware of the potential career risks and ‘she has it all covered.’...

WHO’S THE COMPETITION?...
As it stands, one time Project Fame winner, Chidinma is getting all the support from her Capital Hill record label and management firm. Meanwhile, Seyi Shay and Yemi Alade do not only have wonderful endorsements, but have also had rave and wave making singles.

Show promoters and multiple brand executives have since found alternatives for Tiwa’s energetic performance in all these contenders, which has been proved in not only their endorsement deals, but also the major shows they have headlined alongside-or sometimes without-the Mavin recording artiste....

MEET THE CONTENDERS ...

Chidinma
Chidinma Ekile:

Undoubtedly, Chidinma is a talented singer, whose voice overshadows her petite frame. Emerging winner at the MTN sponsored 2011 Project Fame, Chidinma was quick to pitch her tent with the IllBliss and Clarence Peters, who groomed her with a talented producer, Suspekt.

From her first album to her current singles, Chidinma, has continued to wow audiences and win awards.

A fellow MTN ambassador, the 23 year old singer has not only continued to win more fans to her side, she seems to be getting the attention needed for her reign if she’s able to overthrow Tiwa.

From ‘Kedike’ to her current collaboration with Flavour, Chidinma isn’t ready to take a hike, especially as she has age on her side....
Yemi-Alade 13
Yemi Alade:

Yemi Eberechi Alade is a 25-year-old singer born on March 13, 1989 in Abia State, Nigeria, to Helen Alade (nee Uzoma), a businesswoman, and James Alade, a retired Police Commissioner.

Yemi, who was exposed to singing and dancing competitions as a child, holds a BSc in Geography from the University of Lagos.

After winning the maiden edition of Peak Talent Show in 2009, little or nothing was heard about Yemi until the early days of 2011, when she became a regular face in the industry.

Her debut single ‘Fimisile’ featuring El-Dee did moderately well, with over ten thousand hits on YouTube in barely a month. In July 2012, Yemi Alade released ‘GHENGHENLOVE’

Yemi Alade is currently signed to Effyzzie Music Group. She has two hit singles currently rocking the airwaves, ‘Johnny’ and ‘Tangerine’ both produced by Selebobo....

Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua ‘Seyi Shay’ was born on December 21, 1985, in London, England.

Seyi wrote and produced three songs for the soundtrack to Konami’s video game ‘Crime Life’ in 2005, after which she wrote ‘You Will See, a song that was included on ex Spice Girl Melanie C’s third studio album ‘Beautiful Intentions.

’ In 2008, she became the lead singer for the now defunct pop girl group ‘From Above,’ which was signed on Sony/Columbia and was managed by Beyonce’s dad, Mathew Knowles.

With a degree in Business Management from the University of East London, Seyi’s impressive profile is ready to take over.

In August 2013, She released her album’s second single ‘Killing Me Softly’ featuring Timaya. ‘Ragga Ragga’ and ‘Chairman’ both produced by Del B followed this.

Currently rocking the airwaves with ‘Murda’ featuring Patoranking and Shaydee, Seyi has endorsement deals with Etisalat, Genevieve Magazine’s Pink ball and Bacardi Breezers....
